QuickTime HTTP (Psuedo) Streaming

True streaming requires the use of special streaming server, unfortunately this can lead to high cost and high levels of administration.  Luckily, it is possible to do what is known as "psuedo" or HTTP streaming of Quicktime content.

First, you must have Quicktime Pro (paid upgrade for the free QuickTime) to create the content you wish to stream:

The can be done by opening the file in QuickTime pro and choosing "Move to QuickTime Movie" from the export menu.  In order to allow visitor on slower dialup links to correctly stream the content, we suggest setting your encoding to 40kbps.  Also, make sure you choose the "HTTP" streaming option and that "Fast Start" is selected.

Second, upload the ".mov" file to your website and create a link to it from your webpage so that visitors may click on the link to play the QuickTime file.

Lastly, we suggest you provide a link from your website to the QuickTime player download page.
